Dolafon is also a resting place for more peaceful activities. The reservoir , Llyn Celyn, is 2 miles away and a peaceful walk may be made accross the dam and around the trails in ordinary attire and footwear under normal weather conditions. Similarly, Bala Lake itself, the largest natural lake in Wales, is pleasant to visit.

Here's a tip: take a blanket or lightweight chairs, drive on the back road to Llangower, and enjoy the afternoon sun at the picnic site. There is easy parking and you will be disturbed only by the sound of the passing Bala Lake railway and the birds. It is also a better place also to watch the sailing.

Frongoch is a hamlet about 3 miles from Bala and about 1 mile from the National Whitewater Centre - Canollfan Tryweryn. Various experiences are available here in the rafts from £31 or there are easy walks to watch the excitement or the birdlife in this part of Snowdonia National Park. View from Dolafon, near Bala
